Background
History
Hermann Tilke's first F1 project, Sepang opened in March 1999 and hosted the Malaysian Grand Prix until 2017. Its wide layout and turn 5--6 esses set the template for a generation of modern F1 circuits. It returned in 2026 as the stand-in venue for the Bahrain Grand Prix, after the April race at Sakhir was called off.
